Peer Exchange

Keep the assignments you value.

We've seen AI kill the assignments we value. We're teachers, so we fought back and put AI to work on our side. Peer Exchange combats AI cheating, so you can keep the assignments you value - and add AI where it strengthens learning.

Impromptu Oral Assignments

Trust that students understand course concepts.

You ask the questions. Students answer out loud, unscripted, in their own voice. It gives you a way to hear from every student in your class, on your schedule and theirs. As the timer counts down, students read your question, collect their thoughts, and record a spoken answer on their phone or laptop. If you choose to enable it, AI provides instructor-only feedback and scoring based on your criteria.

Run it standalone ("What should the protagonist do, and which course concepts support your answer?") or after peer review ("When you offered feedback, how did you balance being critical with being encouraging?").

Here's a short video to explain how this works.

Peer review that works

Students coach students.

Peer Exchange is built on a patented structure for double-blind peer review. Students learn twice: from the feedback they receive, and from the thinking it takes to give it.

AI as your students' rival

Students go head-to-head with AI.

Students write and submit their feedback before they ever see AI's feedback. Then the comparison report puts the two side by side.

AI as your students' rival: one submission, student feedback versus AI feedback

We combat AI cheating. We embrace AI for learning. "AI as a rival" is one of three ways Peer Exchange strengthens learning. The other two are:

Automated grading: peers and/or AI

The best of both worlds.

Grading runs itself. Every grade blends components you choose: human (peer evaluation and participation) and AI (evaluation of written work and oral assignments). Default weights are included, and are easy to customize.

Prefer grades with no AI at all? Set those components to zero.
